I took the chick, "Topaz McFurry feet", to Emily and Andy's classrooms last week.
I take her weekly so the kids can see her grow.

While in Emily's science class, her teacher asked me if I wanted a dog crate. I said "sure, I can always find a use for one."
BIG MISTAKE!
I left the school with the crate in one hand and the chick in my purse and practically tripped over an injured pigeon.
What? Did the powers that be see me walking with an empty crate and say "well, that just wont do!"?
I called to the Librarian and she came out and helped me catch the bird.
I brought it home and found that it was covered in some kind of oil.

I remembered that rescue people used dish soap on birds after oil slicks so I took Emily to the store to find some. I told her to help me find the right soap and she said "could this be it, the one that says rescuing wildlife for over 25 years?" I have to laugh at her sarcasm.

I gave it a bath-

And a blow dry-

Whatever she was covered in was toxic. It burned my eyes. Poor thing.
I'll keep you updated-
